Our Story

Happy times are never ending when we’re playing and pretending

What we’re all about

Children bring bright smiles, high energy and wonderment into our daily lives.  But there are some times when you just need 20 minutes of peace.  Maybe you want to read a newspaper, chat with a friend, or just do some work.

Java Mama is a place where a child’s energy thrives and parent relaxation is cultivated.  It’s for that very reason that Alicia Campen founded Java Mama in La Mesa, California in 2007.  Almost every parent has mistakenly thought that they could bring their precious bundles of joy into a local coffeehouse to get some work down while the baby sleeps peacefully.

When reality hits, all you need is a place to enjoy a fresh cup of coffee while your kids can run off their energy in a safe and engaging environment.  Many Java Mama locations offer supervised play hours so you can read a book, catch up on work, chat with a friend, all without constant interruptions and without worrying about your kids bothering other patrons!  At Java Mama, we get it!

Sip. Play. Relax.
