Word from a Java Mama
Happy October! In the past couple of newsletters, I have written about Max and the challenges of being a mom. This month, I was going to focus on the election, especially Sarah Palin. I had asked some moms to write about their opinions of Palin and whether voters should consider her abilitity to be a good mother to five kids along with being a good Vice President. In the midst of writing my personal opinion of Palin and her political views, I was forwarded a very opinionated political email that I disagreed with. I found myself so offended that someone I barely knew would send me such an email out of the blue, that I decided to keep the politics and opinions out of this newsletter. I do want to say that regardless of what side of the aisle you find yourself, it's exciting to have a woman and a man of color running for these high offices. During the Vice Presidentail debate the other night, I tried to explain to my daughter why its a big deal for a woman to be running for VP and what that means for her one day. She's only six and said it sounds boring to be President of the United States. Hopefully, in 30 or 40 years when she could run for President, if she wanted to, our Country will be at a point where she is judged on what she can do for our country, leaving her gender or the color of her skin to barely an afterthought. One day, when my daughter is sworn in or watches one of her female peers elected President, she can look back to watching Palin on TV that night and think to herself what a long way we've come.
Speaking of politics, one of the biggest topics hitting us right now is the economy. It's tough right now, so thank you to all of our customers who continue to drive from around San Diego County to support our small business. We truly appreciate you and your patronage!
