Please, no outside food or beverages (except for young children's snacks) in the cafe. Java Mama offers a wide variety of delicious menu items to satisfy any palate of any age.

Be sure to check out our Calendar on the weekends for early closing hours due to private parties.

Where Coffee Time Meets Play Time

Finally, a coffeehouse for adults and children! Tired of dirty looks when your little one starts making noise at the local coffeehouse? Have you been yearning for a place where you can relax and drink a cup of coffee that is also kid-friendly?

Java Mama is a cafe created especially with parents and caregivers in mind. Relax with a cup of gourmet coffee or tea while your little one plays nearby in our specially designed play area. Play with your child in the play area or during designated hours let our experienced staff watch your child while you read the newspaper, get some work done using our free WiFi or attend one of our many classes such as pre- and post- natal yoga. We also have classes for the little ones, such as children's yoga, drama, dance, music and art classes.

Whether it's time for a snack or a full meal, Java Mama Cafe is the place to be. Check out our extensive children's menu featuring real fruit juice CoolSicles, smoothies and tried and true favorites such as hot dogs, chicken nuggets and pb&j sandwiches. For the big people check out our full line of gourmet espresso and tea drinks, along with your favorite baked goods, and delicious made-to-order salads and panini sandwiches. We've also expanded our breakfast menu with specialty bagels and breakfast sandwiches. Java Mama is the only child-friendly cafe around that prepares its own food on-site - meaning your order is made fresh just for you.

Halloween Dinner with Captain Jack - Friday, Oct. 10th, 6:30pm
Captain Jack is setting sail with Java Mama in search of the elusive treasure of Davy Jones! Come dine with Jack as he regales you with tales of his adventures on the high seas in pursuit of Davy Jones' secrets. Who knows, maybe some lucky young scalawag will win a family four-pack of tickets to join Captain Jack on his voyage in Lite Frite: Pirates' Landing. $15 per child/$10 sibling. RSVP soon.

Halloween Celebration - Friday, Oct. 31st, 10:30am-12:30pm
Come celebrate Halloween Java Mama Cafe style. Join us for face-painting, ghoulish crafts, cookie decorating, a costume contest, lots of games and a parade around the village of La Mesa. Due to the popularity of last year's event, we are limiting the number to 30 children. $7 per child/$5 sibling. Please sign up soon.

Dance Party - A Java Mama Original Event!
Put on your boogie shoes and hustle on down to Java Mama for a free mini-dance party featuring bubbles! shaky eggs! parachutes! and free kid's drinks! Upbeat children's dance tunes will be spinning as you wave your hands in the air and say F-U-N! Instructor led dance time from 3-3:30pm. Kid’s Beverages are FREE with a $3 drink purchase from 2:30-5:30.* Free to Java Mama customers. **Kid’s beverages include chocolate moos, juice and milk. Mondays at 3pm.

Tuesdays
Signing Storytime
Join expert sign language instructor Joann Woolley as she delights your little ones with favorites such as Brown Bear, Brown Bear and Goodnight Moon. Every other Thursday at 10am. Check calendar for dates.

Stories and Crafts
NEW! Join us every Tuesday night for a story and craft. $7.
Tuesdays at 6:30pm.

Wednesdays
Storytime
Clap your hands, stomp your feet, wiggle all around! Wiggle?! At storytime?! You betcha! Join us as we sing, dance, and read entertaining stories with lots of expression. Aimed at toddlers and preschoolers (but all ages are welcome!), it’s 30 minutes you (and your children) are sure to enjoy! Wednesdays at 10am. Free to Java Mama customers

Grandparent's Day
Every Wednesday, seniors receive 10% off their order. Be sure to ask for discount at the register.

Thursdays
Silly Sing-a-Long
Wheels on the Bus, Itsy Bitsy Spider, and the Hokey Pokey come to life as Tim's rockin' alter ego takes the stage (in the play area) with everyone's favorite children's tunes. Kick it for 30 minutes of musical fun while you relax with your favorite cup, or join the kids for some high-energy, interactive fun. Thursdays at 6:30pm.

Fridays
Spanish Storytime
Join us for a half hour of stories, music and movement led in Spanish by Maestra Blanca. This storytime is suitable for the Spanish speaker as well as those who are just learning. Monthly at 3:00pm. Free to Java Mama customers. Check calendar for dates.
